Who we are

In case we're new to you — and a word on our year with Ark Elvin.

Purple Ruler is a DfE-accredited, Ofsted-registered online alternative provision. We deliver live, qualified teaching — never AI — for the pupils mainstream can't currently reach, wrapped with mentoring, therapy and live data. Over the past eight months we've worked alongside Ark Elvin Academy to keep their hardest-to-reach learners in full-time education.

The problem

When a pupil stops coping, schools get two options — and both cost you.

Mainstream was built for the average learner. When a pupil has anxiety, SEND or behavioural needs, the system has only two levers — and neither fixes the cause.

Force

Push the pupil to attend a setting that isn't working for them. Attendance dips, anxiety climbs, the relationship frays — and the gap keeps widening.

Eject

Send them to alternative provision. Traditional AP is an ejection seat: it removes the problem from the classroom but lacks the therapy, data and integration to actually solve it. A silo, off to one side.

Instead of forcing or ejecting, you retain, recover and reintegrate — keeping the pupil technically and genuinely included, learning on your curriculum, with a route back to the classroom. How we hold the standard

Every lesson in the system is scored against its rubric.

This is what separates an inclusion system from "a login and a worksheet": each strand of teaching has its own scored rubric, and every teacher is observed monthly against it — each metric rated 1 (Inadequate) / 2 (Developing) / 3 (Established). Every lesson is live, taught by a qualified, experienced teacher — never AI and never a worksheet-and-login. Lessons are observed monthly against a scored rubric.

How is attendance recorded?

Sessions are registered and evidenced on a live attendance dashboard so the pupil stays on roll and your attendance figures are protected.

What about safeguarding and DBS?
